North-Centre Albania Culture Sites Tour

 

Overview

This tour is for people who like to see relics of early civilization, the types of buildings of great interest from an architectural view point, national costumes and also the beautiful nature. During our journey we will visit some of the most attractive and historical cities of Albania such as (1)Tirana - Tirana is the largest and the capital of Albania; (2)The journey will continue further to Berat known as “the city of a thousand windows”. (3) And Shkodra, which is the gateway to the magnificent Alps of Albania (4) and then, Kruja is the “city of history” and the best known as hometown of Albanian National Hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg. Also, you can try all different kinds of Albanian dishes.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Tirana. At 18:00, meeting the tour guide at the hotel lobby. Then start by a quick sightseeing tour of the city starting from Scanderberg Square, Mosque of Et’hem Bey, the Watch Tower, “Deshmoret e Kombit” street and Bllok neighbourhood. Dinner. Overnight in Tirana

Day 2

After the breakfast, the tour starts by travelling to Durresi the biggest sea port & the most ancient city in Albania. Visit to the town fortress, the amphitheatre & archaeological museum. Then the trip continues toward to Apollonia the most important archaeological sites in Albania, just 12 km far way from the city of Fier. It’s a good opportunity to see the most important archaeological monuments such as surrounding wall, the great wall of Agonothetes, Odeon, Portico, the house with mosaics, Fontana the church of St Mary and the Museum of Apollonia . The lunch will take place in a nice restaurant under the shadow of the trees in Apollonia. The tour continues toward to Berat the 2,407 years old city, the pride of Albanian antiquity and architecture and under protection of UNESCO. Overnight in Berat.

Day 3

After breakfast, visit Berati, which is a” museum city” known otherwise as “the city of thousands windows”. What impress most the tourists in this ancient city is, its castle still inhabited. It has been built up on a rocky hill 260m above sea level.  Visit inside the castle “Onufri“ Museum, the Church of St Trinity, Bachelor’s Mosque etc.. Ethnographic Museum, Gorica Bridge etc. Dinner and overnight in Berat.

Day 4

Travelling towards Shkodra one of the biggest and oldest cities of Albania. During the travelling the first stop will be in Lezha to visit the mausoleum of Skanderbeg at ex-Cathedral of Shen Kolli where he was buried in 1468. The lunch break will take place at the most known restaurants in Shiroka area in front of the Shkodra’s lake, serving the most popular local dishes, especially the crap fish which is the one raised in Shkodra’s lake. In the afternoon visit the Rozafa Castle and exploring the city. Overnight in Shkodra.

Day 5

After the breakfast travell to Kruja, nested on a steep mountain side, stands high a balcony over the Adriatic shores. The history of the city is closely linked with the Albanian national Hero Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg. A narrow path, leads you to the old bazaar and the Scanderbeg castle. Visit the national & ethnographic museums. Dinner and overnight in Kruja.

Day 6

After breakfast, the group will be transfer to Tirana Airport.

End of the tour.
